West Coast Bronco Association Racing is owned and operated by Dan Wright. Dan started in off-road racing as a teen in Weiser, Idaho. He was involved in the local scene, where guys would come together to race what ever they had, through the local sand dunes and hills. After attending his first Baja 1000 in the early 80’s he knew someday he would race in pro off-road races.
In 2003, Dan created Old Horse Racing as a support group for those who wanted to run Early Ford Broncos ('66-'77) in the Baja 1000 Race in Mexico. After being involved in 4 Baja runs by 2006, he decided it was time to build his own off-road racer. Plans to fund and build a racer capable to complete a run in the Baja 1000 from start to finish, was going to be a monumental task. This 40th Anniversary course, has proving to be the toughest yet, with an increased run to 1300 miles.
Dan was witness to lessons learned the hard way, by many others, when untested rigs were brought to Mexico to run the Baja, and failed. A rugged, well tested, solid rig would be paramount in deciding when the team would be Baja ready. The new racer project was started within two weeks of getting home from Baja 06, with the initial hard work of mechanic and fabricator, Daniel Field. Adding from a pool of experienced mechanics, bronco specialists, fabricators and race drivers, an awesome team was built around what was fast becoming a very capable off-road race rig. With this team's extensive experience building off-road rock crawlers from the ground up, the racer was well on its way.
2007 saw the team at races near Las Vegas, Nevada at the Primm 300 and in Baja, Mexico for the Baja 1000.
In 2008 the team competed in the Class 3 Cup series at
Primm, NV with Primm 300.
