The support rig is very important to off road racing, especially in Baja, Mexico. Depending on the length of the race and road access availability, a single race rig may need up to six support rigs stage in different areas. The race rig is just the first part to putting a team together. The cost of the support rigs can easily double a teams budget.
 
The large pit/tow support rig:
 
These rigs will be equipped with welders, generators, air compressors, spare tires, spare parts and all the tools needed to complete a repair. They will also tow a chase rig that can take parts to a racer that is in a remote area or recover the race rig and tow it to the trailer if needed. They are equipped with GPS navigation , VHF radios and Satellite telephones.
 
The Chase rig:
 
They are used when access to the race rig is limited to short wheel base vehicles. These rigs are built a step below the race rig. they will have a full cage for driver safety. These rigs carry some extra parts, extra fuel & oils, high lift jack, a spare tire if needed and a large amount of had tools. they are also equipped with a winch and tow strap. They also carry GOS Navigation and VHF radio.
 
Driver support rig:
 
They move relief drivers in to position down course. They also are equipped with a small amount of tools. They carry GPS navigation, VHF radio and satellite telephones as well.
